It’s been a very busy past couple of months for mYinsanity with changes being implemented to existing squads as well as new squads joining the family!
First of all we would like to give the QWERTZ Bar in Lausanne a BIG THANK YOU! They organized a mYinsanity party on the 5th of April, which ended up being a wonderful evening. With a crowd of people ranging from organizers to fans, it was a fantastic opportunity to meet people and just hang out. Everything was perfectly organized and we sure had a lot of fun! We’re looking forward to the next, bigger mYinsanity party!
In Starcraft 2 we had to say good bye to our friend and teammate Radoslaw “DaNa” Danowski after his contract ended. Everyone at mYinsanity would like to wish DaNa the best of luck in his future endeavours and thank him for his contributions to the team. You will be missed!
On April 9th we welcomed Korean Random player, Jung “Balloon” Woo Joon, formerly of Team Startale fame. Balloon was looking for a non-Korean team as he intends to pursue studies in America, and saw mYinsanity as a perfect fit. He has already proven his worth in team matches and we are very excited to have him onboard.
The changes don’t stop there however as mYinsanity are also proud to announce the addition of our new Dota 2 team, previously known as Team One. They started off well by winning the Universe Lan and will also represent us in the upcoming Balkan DotA 2 Championships. We’re eagerly looking forward to seeing what these guys are capable of!
Our teams have also been very busy with offline events in the recent months. Most notably, Dreamhack Open in Bucharest held a Starcraft 2 competition, where mYi had no less than seven(!) participants, more than any other team. The team’s captain PengWin was eliminated in the first Group Stage, while Niroxs and Reynor progressed to the next stage joining our other players who were already seeded. Here we saw StarDust, JJAKJI and Serral go through, which was expected by most. Niroxs however, caused a huge upset, beating a previous Dreamhack champion in Grzegorz “MaNa” Komincz, eliminating him from the tournament. ABomB and Reynor were not as fortunate, as they were eliminated at this stage.
The third and final groupstage saw JJAKJI and Serral being placed in the same group. Serral produced eye-catching performances against the korean giants TY and JJAKJI. Alas, it was not enough as he lost both series 1-2 while JJAKJI advanced. StarDust eased through his group, going 2-0 vs both MC and NightEnD, while Niroxs was eliminated by Ryung and Lilbow.
In the bracket stage we immediately were faced with another teamkill, as JJAKJI and StarDust were forced to play one another. StarDust managed to edge out JJAKJI with a 2-1 win, but was unable to overcome the eventual champion, Life, in the quarterfinal. Despite some unfortunate group drawings and bracket stages, StarDust’s top eight finish is still a result to be proud of, as Dreamhack Bucharest had one of the toughest list of competitors to date.
Success at PolyLAN!
Meanwhile, on home soil mYinsanity reigns supreme. At the Swiss PolyLAN, our academy player Jay “Jaypower” Boekstaaf won the Starcraft tournament, taking down the Swiss grandmaster Elroye in the final. The League of Legends team also won their tournament at the same LAN, making it a memorable event.
Fun at PolyManga!
Last but not least, mYinsanity organized a booth together with RedBull at Switzerland’s largest Manga/Cosplay event, PolyManga. It was a huge success as thousands of visitors could play games with our League of Legends team and our star Starcraft players, JJAKJI and StarDust. Make sure you check out some photos of the event here.
